ASN's Pub

The interview went OK thanks. They had 62 applicants, of which they only interviewed 5, so thats a start.

Someone came from London, and various others from other places. I would imagine they save a wider WAN skill set than mine sadly, so I'm not very hopeful.

But then again, who knows.

Morning all,

Back in da house, had an awesome day at Bletchley Park yesterday, traffic was bad on the way up but worth it.

Nice to see an Enigma in the flesh (they have a number on display in a glass case) to see "Heath Robinson" and the first programmable computer Colossus (rebuilt as they destroyed all the originals). Also had loads of fun going round the National Museum of computing, loads of kit that I learnt on at school (RML 380Z Commodore PET), played on (Spectrum, ZX81etc) and worked on in my time in IT ( Superbrain, IBM 6150 original IBM PC and load of printers and dumb terminals).

I would recommend it and the ticket gives you access for a year and we'll be going back in September.

Paul

That sounds like just my sort of thing. I may well look into that.

There are so many museums in the UK I would love to visit.

Track days are good fun, hope you get your wish. What car would you be driving?

I'd take the S3 for the track day.

I will be buying some Federal RS series semi slicks, as well as taking a spare set of front discs and pads...

Sounds good. I did a Ferrari experience about 8 years back and it was awesome. I and a fellow asn member will be doing a track day in my friends new R8 when we can agree a date to do so.

I am soooooo looking forward to getting boost back in my life!

I miss everything about my car,

The brakes
The feeling of accelleration
The noise (baaaAAAAAAAAA ba ba, pop, pssshhht, baaaAAAAAAAAAA psssht)
The smell
The seats
4wd

Edit:
The stereo
Even the stupid squeak from my armrest

Anyone fancy the Castle Coombe VAG day meety thing-a-ma-jig?

I could well be tempted to do my track sessions a month earlier... lol

In a word - yes!

welly, you can camp, drive to the baby thing and then drive back. so your 1 of 5? Thats better odd thats the inital 1 out of 62. Good luck. when should you hear back?

Paul, that sounds like a great place to go. One to look in to for sure.
Any pictures you care to share?

Dane, what happened to your car mate? Broke it all ready?

I just past my politics and ethics induction training course thingy. The most dull and boring thing I have ever done in my life.

I was the last one, so I will know next week. It's good that I don't have to wait long.

The Cr hybrid k04 never worked properly the hot side was shot from the beginning

so we had to change the turbo, but were changing it to a different hybrid and Bill didnt want to remove the turbo without removing the head again so he found me a big port head which has new bits (stem seals and exhaust guides...).

All of which is now on the car were just waiting on a different front mount intercooler to show up.

Lol the vids not very exciting, it just shows the penny valve moving all over the place and not sealing properly.

Yeah It was a long way off before, the Maf gave airflow readings equal to around 280-285, but it now it has a big port head because you can advance timing by roughly 10 more degrees, which will hopefully lead to Welly esque levels of hybridness.

End figures I'm not too fussed about because hopefully this time that'll be most of the work finished and hopefully it'll feel awesome on the road. As a benchmark Wellys made 338 (I think) from 22 psi so with any luck that should be achievable.

I think the only difference between Welly's set up and mine now are his mahhosive 76mm intercooler pipes, his is a non wideband car and mine is and mine has done 50K less.

Fingers crossed!

That's absolutely right figures wise. Best figure I had from it was 344 bhp, but to be fair that was not sustainable as the boost was just too much.

You're right on the setups though, except for the mileage - the car may have done 50K more, but the engine hasn't.

Fingers crossed!

I've got mine crossed for you too dude, hoping for a good end result.

Welly you get my PM mate? Can't find W7 USB drivers for the Galaxy S anywhere :( and the ones i download using the SDK doesn't seem to do anything

Cheers bruv, good point on the engine I forgot about that.

It feels like it's been going on for ages.

Welly do you know much about 1.8T's in mk2 golfs :eyebrows:

No, but I know a lot about 1.8Ts, and have done engine conversions in the past. How hard can it be?

It didn't tell me I had one dude, sorry. Just looked now.

Do you have Samung Kies installed? I sort of assumed that you did....

The reason I ask is that Kies will give you ALL the drivers you need. Following on from that, Kies is normally responsible for phone firmware updates, and if you haven't checked for new firmware there first, you might just be able to download it and Kies will flash the phone for you...

Thats my mates car.
I can ask him for some info

Cheers dude, I was just wondering if you did ;)

Yeah it's going to be a big learning curve for me, and whilst I hope i'll be able to get some suspension/brake/chassis skills I think the engine might be too far our of my league, I happy to give it a go but then again I'd rather it worked properly.
