Xenon headlights blowing bulbs

Since retrofitting the oem bi xenons I've had no end of bulbs blow. First a DRL, then more recently an indicator bulb ( thought maybe it was the cheaper chrome finish ones at fault?) And now another DRL, all in the same headlight too. Never had this issue with the old halogen units and im just waiting for what seems an inevitable blowing of the main xenon bulb!

Does anyone have any suggestions? Im at my wits end with this car atm, i wouldn't mind as much if you could change a bulb without taking the front end back off again!

Rant over...

Cheers

Did you wire them in as factory or use adapters, did you code to bixenons?

I used the adapters and made sure i got the decent Kufatec ones then made the 2 connections into the CEM. The lights work as they should and work with the autolights and CH/LH lights too as per factory but seem to blow blubs way more often than my old headlights do

Always something with these cars mate.

I’ve resisted the urge to upgrade my headlights as from past experience it just causes problems.

I upgraded to xenons on one of my old TT’s and it was nothing but grief.

Hope you get it sorted though

Did you wire them exactly as per factory, as in pin to pin to the CE, for xenons with drl, was the CE suitable for xenons or still using halogen setup, did you code the car for xenons.

Are they decent bulbs or cheap tat.

Tbh im not sure, the only wires to connect were the two that open the shutters for main beam (pin 21 and 22, 32pin connector).

Again not sure about the CE, but definitely coded for bi xenon with drl.

As i said they work fine and as they should. The indicator bulbs i used were those chrome finish ones as i did the clear corner mod/removal so maybe those are naff and tbh i cant remember if i fitted new drl bulbs either

Cant comment on the xenon part Alex but I struggled to find a good make chrome bulb for my corner mod especially with the correct pins so I gave up after spending £25 on a pair that didn't fit and stuck in some cheap ones from my local corner shop car parts store and I had them in a month or two before you done yours and I never blown an indicator bulb so I very much doubt its the quality of the bulb, also used cheaper 8000k xenon bulbs in my old Honda accord type r as they came factory fitted with xenons and the year or so I had them fitted they didn't blow either.

Maybe its just one of those things Ricky. I sawpped out the drl which was easy enough, and the o/s indicator bulb has had a standard amver bulb put in and tbf it doesn't look that obvious unless you look for it. I thought fitting the o/s one was a faf having to drop the arch liner, but the n/s is ridiculous. You actually have to be a hobbit or remove the headlight completely, just to swap a bulb!
