Hi all

Some **** decided to bend back my wing mirror on the drivers side and it is now broken. it's still attached and the electrics work but it wobbles around a lot, so much I can really use it on the motorway.
When stationary it looks fine but it needs sorting. Have any of you any experience with this? can I just replace the black bracket?

From the way you describe it you'll need to replace the entire mirror assembly, but can provide a more definitive answer with pics.

the gap between the silver and black is where it is wobbling.

More like the mounting loose, take the whole mirror of and see what's loose.

Slightly related does anyone know the best place to buy replacement glass for the mirror?

Driving down the road the other day mine came loose and fell out. I managed to stick it down with double sided tape but I don’t imagine it’ll last.

Looks like it's loose between the black and the door too? For that one, you'll need to take off the door card(for ease of access) and loosen the T27/30/40 bolts that hold the mirror into the frame, then slot it back into position and re-tighten the bolts.

For the wobbling between the silver+black it should really just slot back in? If not, then you may just need to replace the cover which should be something quick and cheap like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A3-...552196&hash=item33cf503b2e:g:LWQAAOSwGJlZJEwx - you can probably find something cheaper, used and in the right colour if you dig around on eBay.

Ahah, had the same issue a few months ago with the same mirror. You can either get something cheap like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Left-han...332779&hash=item4b2df2607f:g:2gQAAOSwRbtaEpJF

It'll stick on with it's own adhesive which is of decent quality and won't fall off for another few years hehe...

Or, pull out the black plastic/rubber thing that the glass sticks onto with a flat head screwdriver or a trim tool and replace it with something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A3-...775554&hash=item462d9603e8:g:uzgAAOSwj9lZqK5k

Only problem is: I tried getting the glass I mentioned first^^ from
1) eBay - it didn't fit as it was too big and wouldn't stick on the plastic/rubber back thing so had to return
2) Halfords - they sold the same thing but it was Summit branded and the same shape so it should fit the car. As it was from Halfords, I had a bit more faith in it - but not too much faith! I asked Halfords to fit it in too, that way if they broke it - they'd refund.. And that's exactly what happened. They tried to stick this mirror glass on to the back, but it wouldn't fit so he forced it in and it finally sat there but it was cracked all over... (Got my money back obvs!)

In the end, after driving around with a smashed mirror for a week, I gave up and spent ~£55 at the Audi dealers for them to order a genuine part that actually fit very easily...
