Hi,

I am new to the forum and if this has already been answered, if someone could point me to the information that would be great.

I have bought an Audi A4 2005 B6. I want to upgrade the stereo to a new aftermarket stereo. But im not sure which parts I require. I was going to go down the double din route but it looks complicated. Can you tell me which parts I need for both options?

Single Din

  1. Is this the correct Fascia, Autoleads FP-05-05? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250790289905
  2. Do I need an amplified ISO cable, PC9-401? How do I know if my car has symphony? It doesn't have Bose. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161026081...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_1914wt_1399
  3. Do I need anything else?

Double Din

I found the following guide which says all of the center consul needs to be removed. Is it as difficult as it looks? http://www.ranno.net/audi/RNSeInA4.pdf

  1. Is this the correct double din housing, 8e0858005f? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131337655102
  2. Do I need a double in Fascia?
  3. Do I need a new double din climate control? If so what is the model number? There are numerous ones on eBay.
  4. Do I need anything else?
Below is the current stereo:

Single

1. That is the correct single din fascia.
2. That doesn't look like the correct lead.. Im sure its this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A4-2002-2004-REAR-AMP-RCA-TO-ISO-LOOM-STEREO-CD-HARNESS-PC9-404-PC5-90-/291194767326?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item43cc8f87de Someone will be to confirm.

Double:

3. You can trim your original one down iirc

For either single or double you are going to need to wire in a switched live as there wont be one there on the standard headunit as this is controlled by CAN. This is easy enough to do though. If you search the forum i'm sure there's a few threads on this.

Does every A4 come with an amp? Do i def need the amplified lead?

The only thing that puts me off cutting my original one down is that i might put the audi concert stereo back in when i sell it.

I'm pretty sure the standard system is half amped rear, and the Bose is a fully amped set up. The amp/sub is usually in the sidewall of the boot. If you have an Avant, open the right side hatch and you should see your sub and amp. Not sure on saloon as don't have one lol.

Thanks it was in the right hand side. Amp: b6 / 6314.

The lead above should be correct then. Its the one I should have ordered for mine! I ordered the fully amped version with 4 plugs. A bit of alteration and it works a treat haha :)

Someone else will have to confirm on the double din as I haven't done the conversion.

Yeah that will get your unit fitted, but you will also need to run a switched live from the fuse box or from under the steering column. Otherwise the unit will be on permanently and you will have to manually turn it on off all the time.

Easiest way is get one of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Add-A-Cir...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3ce67d9899

and run it from the fusebox. Cant remember off the top of my head which fuse to piggyback though. Should get the answer if you Google it.

If you come out of the back of the fusebox it will be a black or black/yellow wire, you need to add a line fuse!

As other have said above it's fairly easy to add a switched live which will turn your stereo on when the engine is started and turn off when you kill the engine, it won't stay on until you remove the keys like standard.

To do that you need a bit more wiring with a relay to add an accessory live, lucky for you I have just done this myself and made a How To Guide

Thanks for the guide. Much appreciated. Did you fit the double din using the guide i posted above? What parts did you need?

No troubles.

My original stereo was already double din, so I bought the connects 2 double din fascia surround kit

Then used a ISO to fakra converter lead and a double single fakra plug aerial adaptor and a connects 2 CT53-au03 adaptor loom
