Two newbie questions

Hello, I've been lurking on the forum for a while. Delivery of my S3 is in a few weeks and I have a couple of questions, one dumb and one not. You can decide which is which

1. On the center console there appears to be a switch blank with two slots in it, right beside the parking brake switch. What's it for -- Coin holder? Dirt collector? Air vent to dry sweaty palms?
   
2. Does the lane assist require clearly painted lane markings to work properly or will it handle plain black tarmac? I've read the FAQ and didn't see this specific question answered.

Thanks veeeight. Here in Canada the coin the equivalent size of a euro is worth 25 cents so guess I won't be using that holder much!

The switch position is for the Hold Assist when fitted.
