Hi All,

First thread on here, so apologies for what is probably a duplicate question...

I recently received an email from audi.co.uk that my cam belt is due to be changed, as my car is 5yrs old.
It's an A3 8Va Sportback 1.4 90kw (63 plate)

No problem, phoned Audi to book the appointment, service desk guy goes to check with the chief mechanic as "some audi's actually have chains" - he comes back to say, I have a timing chain... but I also have a belt for AC and various other bits, but no need for an appointment.

Long story short, wasn't sitting right with me, went to check. Can see a belt around bottom half of engine, on the top half where the belt/chain would be, there's a plastic cover with CMB. Checked the build list in the boot.. it says CMBA, from what I gather should be cambelt?

Any ideas anyone?

Update on this, Audi UK are saying there is a belt... Pressed the dealer to double check. There's a belt.

BUT.. there's no requirement to change the belt, which seems odd.
