Time to get back in an RS5

So after selling my 2011 RS5 for an S3 then the s3 getting stollen, I’ve decided after a couple of years of BMW ownership to jump back in to a 2018 model.

My budget is £50k

what do you guys think are a must have extra?

I suspect for that budget, you could get a Sport Edition version, which has most extras covered as standard..

Mine is almost fully loaded and is a 2018 model. Cost me just under £50k from main dealer back in March. To me the must haves are:

Pano Roof
Comfort & Sound Pack
HUD
Sports exhaust (although mine now has a Milltek on)
Black optics pack
Carbon interior
Wireless charging
DRC
Red brake callipers
Memory seats
I have ACC which is great in traffic but up to the individual-comes with normal cruise anyway.

It’s worth hunting around to find the right one but you should be able to get the right spec for that budget. Took me weeks and then by chance saw the one I bought (had to love quick as lots of interest). The only options it doesn’t have are CCB and carbon pack (has carbon mirrors though).

there is a few on auto trader currently, they don’t always say the actual spec or lie and when you go view it it doesn’t have what they said it did! Very Frustrating.
This one is taking my fancy

That looks nice, especially in that Audi exclusive paint. Seems to have all the right options. Similar interior to mine... check if the thermostat has been replaced under warranty, as mine has gone twice in 18k miles... expensive fix!

Nice colour, you can usually tell most of the spec by looking for the ‘tell tales’ on the photos (eg the HUD adjusting knob next to the main headlight switch etc)
High mileage though. Don’t discount the main Audi website as that’s where I found mine. £49,995 and 11,800 on the clock on a Jan 2018 car.
They are out there so keep looking til you find the perfect one.

I’m going to look at my local Audi I’ve seen a nardo gray one I like, with a carbon roof which you don’t see that often, but it’s done 31k miles which puts me off, but they are offering 2 year warranty which is good.

Bear in mind Nardo is the bog standard no cost option colour wise.
Lot to be said buying from a main dealer-you buy that assurance plus there are always dodgy ones out there.
When I had my Milltek fitted the otter remarked how clean the underside of mine was-compared to a guy I know who had his RS5 done there which is a Similar aged car bought from a specialist. The fitter said he believed the other car had a mileage blocker on it previously.

Really liked the car, lovely spec and well looked after, and I got a great deal! £405 a month £50 more then I was paying on my BMW 240i for a car which is far superior, pick it up next week after they’ve sorted some bits! New discs and tires new pads and oils! Happy days

Nice deal! Must have put quite a large deposit in though to get payments that low. I’m paying over £200 more for mine with £3k down.
Far superior car to the 240i-just get ready to sort the noise out as it’s pretty weak in that regard.

Yeah exhaust is the first thing I’m doing!!, I put £4500 down which I had left from paying off my 240i finance, so it’s all worked out well!

how are you finding your milltek? What did you pay?

You must have got a killer APR rate for that. God effort.
If you see my post on the Milltek the details are in there.
Way I see it there are only a few options for the exhaust-cut up job via PCW (or similar), custom build or got to Milltek/Remus etc. AWE doe a good one but US based.
Non res is the way ahead imo, plus you get some useful gains which do make a bit of a difference.

I know this will be an unpopular remark, but I resisted doing the after market exhaust thing. The RS5 for me is a classy, fast GT car, with nothing to prove. Some of these after market exhausts sound terrible (pops and bangs)and just cheapen the brand IMHO. It has a 2.9 bi turbo, which is really not going to sound like a V8 or a V10..

.................same here. Find one with the factory exhaust & it should be fine. Pano roof is a must.

For me the sound was just not in line with what the RS5 is- a performance halo model. It’s a very capable car on a challenging road (closer to my M3 Comp than I expected) and covers a lot of bases. It’s a bit too smooth for my liking and not as aggressive enough and the Milltek ticks the noise box (and seems to make it flow more easier if that makes sense) for me. It looks the part, certainly drives the part but even with the sports exhaust the noise was so disappointing.
Cars are getting quieter all the time and eventually we’ll All be driving electric so we may as well make the most of it while we can!

..................really a £2.5k special colour!!!!!!!!. When it first came out a few years ago it was stunning BUT now just about every car manufacturer does a version & i don't think it's that special anymore.
