but its in the engine block behind the alternator follow the bottom hose from the rad

It is behind the alternator bit fiddly to get to though, i have just replaced mine recently, took about 30 mins. You need to take the top cover off then I removed the wiring that was in the way, undone the inter cooler pipe moved out of the way then removed the plastic water pipe that bolts to the block by 2 x 5mm Allen keys, the thermostat is locked into the plastic so it won't fall out when you remove it from the block by turning it into place, hope this helps
