Hate to say it on this forum............. But sometimes BMW really do get it right!#17527
A still from ITVs Foyles War? An excellent programme & very period correct.
My first car was a 1964 Mk1 Austin Mini 850 and I loved it! it could actually get the speedo round onto the fuel Gauge......... Must have been at least...... 80-90mph! BMCs best A series engine, very smooth & willing to rev - all the later bigger capacities seemed a bit rough by comparison. The '77 Mini Pickup I had later was also an 850 & still had that wonderfully smooth 'revvy' feel to it...........#17533

As a codacil........ I learned to drive (and started 'mechanicing') in my old mans Rover P4 105 - Brill car! Alloy Doors/Bonnet/Boot Lid, 105bhp smooth straight 6 with surprising performance, 4 speed with overdrive grearbox & amazingly powerful brakes! Sounds high spec - Even today! My first a 1959 Rover 60: here RS3copilot (in 1967!!!) shouts "don't take that photo" - too late...
