Looking into getting my motor done for the drive back to Germany, has anyone had it done? If so what's your opinions?

I've not had it done but I've heard both good and bad reviews.....some people say they can tell the difference and others just feel like they've been conned.

I had it done, both regular and egr clean. The guy that did it invited me to look at various bits easily accessible before and after the treatments. It worked in the fact things looked sparkling clean, however I honestly didn't notice any performance difference.

I guess what I'm trying to say is it seems to do what it's designed to do which is clean stuff up, but I don't believe you'll see any significant performance gains. Maybe the internals of mine were not covered in enough gunk to make a difference who knows

Had it done on a 2.0 TDI about 2 months ago. .... if your trying to cure a boost issue it's a waste of time, if your looking for better mpg IMO it's a waste of time also. You might gain 20 miles per tank full.

All it achieved really was cleaning an already clean EGR & anti shudder valve & made mine breathe a little lighter and sound a bit healthier (100k mile engine & trans).

250 sheets not spent very well if I'm honest.

Would I have it done again? Not a funking chance....

I was thinking about this a while ago, got a 2.0T. Ended up having a manual clean done. But the guy said that the deposits came off pretty easily on mine, maybe because I only use vpower and had 45k on the car at the time . As the deposits don't seem to bake on too bad He reckoned that could probably get much the same benefit from something like a terraclean. You could always do a similar thing at home, look up seafoam diys. Guess it depends on how baked on the deposits are as to if it will work ok.

A terra clean won't help on the tfsi as the fluid will only go through the injectors and cylinders and due to the tfsi been direct injection it won't clean the coaches, mangold runners etc where the issues lie.

The one I investigated injected the cleaning fluid through the intake manifold sensor port

WTF are "mangold runners" and "coaches"?

I too had a quote last year for this , a local guy doing the terra clean service called me back and went through the whole process, didn't really suggest massive improvements really on most engine, also he uses a 2 stage process specifically for the tfsi which addresses the direct injection side of things, does cost more though due to the extra process involved, he made a very good argument for doing it but wasn't 100% sure it is really safe on the tfsi engines.

I had my 3.0 tdi done at 148k miles and could notice the difference, after 10 years and those kind of miles I imagine there was some **** in there, throttle response certainly improved
