Stuck rear seat belt

We have a 2006 A6 S-line, drivers side, rear seat belt has 'stuck' ½ way out and won't go back or out any further. Any one any ideas how to get to the reel mechanism, as the seats don't fold down, so it's not easily accessible . . .

try to get at it from the trunk thru the holes in the rear deck(the metal) or try to get at it from above by lifting the rear deck
