Hi I have an 2005 A3 2.0 tdi dsg and when the engine is cold it struggles to start. Also when the engine has warned up it struggles more to start. Any help taken gratefully thanks in advanced.

Hi,
I have a 2004 2.0TDI BKD and i had similar issues...

It could be lots of things, i would suggest you find a VAG specialist (Not Audi) and get the car scanned.
I had diagnostics at Audi and they found nothing.. waste of money.

I went to a local VAG specialist and their diagnistics found a Faulty Cam Shaft Sensor, becuase this sensor is behind the timing belt and it was due anyway i had waterpump, timing belt bearings pulleys and the camshaft sensor replaced all with genuine parts. £500 ish all in.

It is a lot better however i do still have some slight issues in starting (Rarely)...

Suspect Lazy starter motor.
I have also changed all Glow Plugs, Temp Sensors, air filter,Battery etc....

If i was you, to save blindly buying new parts, get it scanned and hopefully you will have a better idea of what is wrong.

Ah, one of my friends said it could be the glow plugs. He also has a diagnostics kit so might get him to have a check first.

I'm getting the engine cleaned via terra clean today as well so will hopefully be a bit smoother.

The first time I noticed it i thought it was the starter motor or battery.

It would only be glow plugs if the coolant temp is below 4c i believe...

But yeah Audi diagnosed Faulty Glowplug and wanted £70 to change one... I changed all 4 for £32

They also wanted £125 plus vat for a temp sensor, changed for £11

Ah, will have a look into it.

That's the problem with manufacturers like Audi, expensive to repair something if you go to a dealer.

Let me know what the fault was for you when you find out. Would be good for future reference
