So here’s an interesting one for you (Headlights query)

Someone I know has an A3 that had LED Xenon matrix headlights from factory. Someone removed the LED RS3 matrix headlights before he bought it, as it was a salvage car. He’s bought the xenon headlights off an AUDI S3, and plugged Them in. They’re not working properly, is this just a case of a ‘VCDS’ job or does something else have to be done?

Essentially, this is a downgrade from MATRIX headlights to Standard LED xenon headlights. I’m hoping it’s a simple one for him

Matrix is way different. Not only wiring, but also coding, parameters, modules and level sensors. And Matrix also needs a highbeam assist camera or front camera (same as lane assist, TSR etc).

Matrix uses two level sensors, different AFS module (some can be coded to standard xenon led), different wiring scheme and most important different parameters (light behaviour).

It can be fixed but takes some time and effort.
