Hi, had 2018 A7 50 which had 19 inch wheels that bought new winter tyres last year, since sold the A7 and bought S7 with 21 inch wheels, priced winter tyres for it and £325 a wheel. Needed winters for trip to Alps next week so bought refurbed 19 inch wheels and put winters on, cost £800 all in. Seemed good fix to avoid higher cost of new 21 inch winters and thought handy to have option to swap wheels in bad weather and back myself. Was told wheels would fit and be right offset etc and swapped them over yesterday. All feels/runs right but tyre sensors not working. Looks like it's a special valve in tyre that isn't on new ones. Not big issue as would be swapping wheels back when come back. Only concern is, is there an issue that not considered. Ignore looks as they look OK its more if not considered a left field issue or one staring ne in face but can't see it! I know may affect speed/efficiency its more technical issue/risks
TIA

Should be fine if the wheels are the correct fit. Tire sizes should be available to make the diameter similar so your speedo shouldn't be out, however you should probably check and compare the sizes of the 19 and 21 inch rims. I would just manually check your pressures like we all did in the old days if the pressure monitors don't work.

Cheers Bill. Had same thoughts. I am in Alps in it, so did the journey, all fine, although car felt bit leggy as if on taller tyres. The profile is 40 or 45 on winter, bit narrower but is more room in the arches. Think not as wide so bit more flex and less grip, but happy to sacrifice that for cost savings and all motorway anyway. From what read French police enforcing winter tyres on the mountain now, so way done it saved me couple hundred pounds, given me more flex for ease of swapping, but guess it was mild paranoia had not thought of something obvious or not, and thought someone would shout if issue. Cheers appreciated contribution. Yes old school on pressures, how spoilt we get!

The big tread blocks on winters always make the car feel more wobbly.

Here is a good comparator for speedo accuracy if you put in your two tire sizes. Put your stock tire size in field 1, winter tires in field 2 and it will show the difference in speed when running the winters.
