After recently changing my steering angle sensor I am Getting the code

00778 - Steering Angle Sensor (G85): No or Incorrect Basic Setting

Have tried to calibrate on vagcom but it won’t let me get into the measuring blocks bit after entering the login code.

Please help :-(

Have you got a full version of vcds or a copy?
Hello man, Thankyou for the reply! I’m not sure as it belongs to a friend I will ask him..I also tried to calibrate it with a snap on scanner, followed all the steps but still no luck :-(

Following this as I have the same error code after recently changing my steering rack.

Tried to recalibrate on snap on but didn’t work so going to try it on vag com soon.

I changed my rack too, during the bleeding process of lock to lock to bleed, the ESP light came on, I think my angle sensor had broken as behind the steering wheel was creaking for weeks before but it finally went. Changed the sensor & now stuck with the ESP light on & this code.. Hopefully someone can advise us on what to do next.

I never touched mine, I assumed that it had lost calibration and just needed re doing.

Tried it, didn’t work.

So you carried out the vagcom procedure & your angle is roughly 0 degrees?

No I only had access to snap on at the time, but will be trying it on vagcom sometime in the week.

It was the same code though, 00778

Got my car booked in with VAG specialist tomorrow morning, he’s going to calibrate it using vagcom. Will let you know how I get on.

Managed to get it sorted, took the guy about an hour, had a nightmare as it kept saying unavaliable on the machine & he had to re code the sensor.

Basically just get someone who knows what theyre doing to fix it lol

Okay thanks for the reply, I’ll try that.
