I have the Road Angel Gem.
Think of it as just a database of potential camera, mobile speed trap and red light cameras.locations.
It's not an active device as per a traditional radar detector. It sends out a beep warning tone whenever you enter an area where there are, or have been cameras, that have been reported via crowdsourcing I.e. Joe public reporting a location via the device (not easy to do while driving btw)
It says it has the capability to detect laser handheld devices. I've never had it work, including driving past a traffic car with an officer using handheld.
As its a database type solution, it also requires a subscription to keep the database updated, currently £64 for a year. The updates are via 3G mobile SIM (built in) or you can plug it into a PC (No MAC option).
Would l buy it again? Probably not.
