Yes I'll upload some photos when I've done the rear camera - and yes I'm going the easy route and plugging it into the boot socket. I bought another Transcend suction cup (which works so well for the front camera) but it keeps falling off the rear screen - I think it maybe the heated elements which keep the suction mount very slightly away and doesn't create the suction. So I think I'll have to use the stick-on mount but I don't want to stick that on the heated elements for obvious reasons. Problems, problems!

No my concern is that when/if I have to remove the mount from the rear it will not come off easily and I'd be afraid of damaging the elements (obviously not a problem on the front).

I see, Yer probably best not to damage that to be honest. Rear would be handy for crashes but won't offer as much of the entertainment factor haha

Has anyone managed to activate HBA on an 8v A3 with full LED headlights and adaptive lighting? The long coding in 09 isn't complete in VCDS. Based on the research done on this thread: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/318997-coding-adaptation-help-required-–-high-beam-assist/ it seems like the following is necessary:

09 - Adaptations - (2) Assistant light functions - Menu light assistant and change to 'PRESENT' [Makes the MMI menu pop]
09 - Long Coding - Byte 2, Bits 0 - 2, Need to select LED lighting with Dynamic Lighting & Light Assist
A5 - Long Coding - Byte 2, Bit 0, Make it 1

The second is where I'm struggling...can't find the right coding for bits 0-2. Someone over at Ross-Tech posted something similar (http://forums.ross-tech.com/showthr...on-Audi-A3-8V-HBA-work-but-error-non-erasable) but it's not clear where they got the coding, also not clear if their car also had dynamic lighting installed. (The drop-down coding helper has separate options for Xenons with Light Assist vs Dynamic Light & Light Assist, so presumably it would for LED too...just don't know what they are.)

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Yes think so - its standard with LED headlamps and high MMI I believe.
 
Based on Rob2k68's module scan (thanks!) and on the Ross-Tech post I mentioned above, it seems like 1D is the correct value for 09, Byte 2, Bits 0 - 2. However, after making all the changes, each time I activate HBA I get a fault message on the dash display (High Beam Assist: System Fault).

Here's what I've done:
  • Module 09 - Adaptations - “Assistant light functions - Menuesteurung Fernlichtassistent" changed to 'PRESENT'
  • Module A5 - Long Coding, change byte 2, use drop down menu to select correct coding - "02 Light/High Beam Assist Mode 2 - High Beam Assist (FLA) / Dynamic Light Assist (DLA)"
  • Module 09 - Long coding - Byte 2, Bits 0-2 - 1D
I actually did try all combination of values for bits 0-2, so I don't think that's necessarily the problem. I do have the driver assistance package, so I do not have module 20, it should use the front facing camera instead.

Any ideas? Full scan below, with errors.

Need to revive this thread from the grave as there's no answer to if anyone with Active Lane Assist is able to utilize High Beam Assist.

I have the Active Lane Assist camera as well, but my car manual and MMI menu mention nothing about High Beam Assist.

I only remember it from looking at the audi uk configurator years ago. I assume this has to be enabled through VCDs to work with the Active Lane Assist camera?

Hi GG, I think SkunkieChis managed to get it working in the end looking at his post above. I've successfully coded this myself on my mates 14 plate MQB Skoda Octavia to enable High Beam Assist using the Lane Departure camera. The coding is here :-

Hard to put a number on it percentage wise but for vehicles that share the MQB platform a fair bit of the coding is the same but this does of course come with exceptions.

There's a thread here somewhere specifically for that device, It's fair to say that it offers good value and simplicity for the one touch coding functionality - some of which are credit based.

Thanks for that link Rob, I hope activating High Beam assist will be a breeze with this OBD11 product.

A shame HBA was not even offered to US A3/S3s for the current gen, but it appears they now going to offer it for the facelifts model, only on the Prestige trim, that will come with Active Lane Assist.

Wow that OBDeleven device worth it's price in Gold. Just got it in the mail today, went to my car to link it up with my tablet running the app, glanced at the apps, instantly noticed the "DRL on with turn signal" for 10 credits. Saw that I already had acquired 11 credits. Instant Buy.

My A3 now has DRL function like the Euro A3s when the turn signal's activated. I hated the "wink" function they gave the US A3s, made it look like the DRL was broken whenever the turn signal was activated.

Still got to figure out this High Beam Assist though.
