I have just really bought a 2.4 convertible on 95k and it has just making a rattle from the engine. I took it to a few garages to look at and non of them couldnt really tell me where the noise was coming from. In the end I went with a Audi specialist who said they could not figure out where the noise was going and suggested a oil chage which he did. After this he said he was pretty sure it was the timing chain tensioners this has really started to worry me.
He said it would cost around £1400 to fix and this has worried me. The noise is really not that bad I didnt know it was there until i took it to Audi for a health check.
I will be driving around 6000 miles a year what will happen will it get louder or bring up a fault code before something goes really wrong any advice would be really helpful.
Would it be worth taking warrenty out I have been quoted £300 a year.
