Hi I'am needing a new turbo for a 1999 s3 how much am I looking to pay for an original???? And what sort would it be??? Or what sort would it be to upgrade the turbo my car is standard but if it doesn't cost much more would upgrade and what else would need to be done to he engine to handle the turbo?????

Mine cost £1400 a few years ago back but the previous owner paid for it. It's only done 19,000 since then so plenty of life left in it.

That was a genuine K04 turbo fitted at a VAG Specialist.
Sounds expensive but at least I didn't have to pay for it.

My car is standard with standard air box and every thing.... So is the k04 the one that will be fitted on my car?? Just had it in at garage today because it's been making a weird noise. And they said it's fuked said will cost about 680 for turbo about 350 for fitting and will maybe need to take sump off and replace pick up pipe?? So a couple of more hours ££ so said about 1200+

Yeah that's right....
Just checked my invoice...
£462 for Labour
£736 for parts including Turbo, Gaskets, Bolts, Coolant, Oil, Filter, Hose, Pick up Pipe, Sealant and other bits.
Plus VAT
Grand Total of £1437.62

Got my car back yesterday it ended up costing £1608 new turbo pick up pipe and inter cooler pipe oil filter and bits. My old turbo must have been knackered only taken the new one to 3000rpm but feels a lot better and I can hear the turbo now :) been told to let it settle in for a couple of 100 miles so taking it steady then book back in for an oil change in 1000 miles?? For the warranty... I carnt wait til I have clocked a couple of 100 !!!!!
