Hi all, I have a q5 on order since June - s-line with full leather and electric seats/mirrors/steering wheel amongst many other options! I have not ordered the heated rear seats, for which the pack says also includes heated side bolsters for the front.

Is that front seat side-bolster heating definitely only supplied with the heated seats option, or is it standard with front seat heating only (assuming nappa leather option selected)? I’m not too fussed about heated rears, but heated front bolsters would be nice.

Just debating if I need to spend another 300 quid to get the full front seat heating experience?

    Cheers,
    Paul.

I have an SQ5 with heated seats (nappa leather) and they just heat the back and bum I think, no bolsters. So I'm guessing the heated bolsters come with the rear heated seat option.

Even on setting 1 of 3 the seats are warm before I reach the station which is a 7 minute drive in the morning. And the whole interior is also warm, so you're starting to consider turning the seats off. I'm in rural Essex, so not that extreme temperatures, and only in the last 2 weeks have I needed to use them since getting the car in May.

£300 for heated rears/front bolsters sounds like an expensive luxury to me, but I rarely have rear passengers. If you live in the wilds of Scotland or Canada and regularly have chilly passengers then it might be worth it, but just to get heated front bolsters, probably not so much.

Cheers Stuart, that clears up my query anyway. I’m the same, rare to carry rear passengers. Sounds like I’m safe skipping this one.

    Ta,
    Paul.

You piqued my interest and I hate guesswork so I just had a quick measure.

Car was cold and seat measured 2C and bolster 3C, so basically the same.

Turned on only the heated driver's seat and left it for 12 minutes. After that the seat was 23C and the bolster 14C.

The bolster has no direct heat of it's own you can feel when you touch it, but the seat and back do.

I'm pretty confident I don't have heated bolsters. Pics for scientific research purposes only :racer:

That’s some impressive research ;). I think I need to spend some of the 300 quid I’m saving on one of those cool IR temperature gadgets!

    Paul.

:D they're fairly cheap, I think that one was £15.

Not sure how accurate it is though..the car was reading 4.5C external temp but the seats were 2 or 3C...

Still, I'm glad the temp is dropping now so I can feel justified laying out a fortune on winter wheels and tyres!

Put the £300 saved towards your first 5 fill ups ;-)

Just a case of boredom while waiting, ordered in June but don’t even have an order number yet. Been through options list so many times, spending a lot but certainly not fully loaded. Don’t want to miss any stuff I’d regret not having later though ‘cos this is a 5 year car.

Skipping obvious stuff like panorama roof (I would be hugely annoyed if it develops creaks etc notwithstanding the ludicrous cost). And gone with 20’s not 21’s. Keep reminding myself this is a comfy car not a S car - sold my S3 due to attempted theft :( so silly trying to make it look ‘go faster’.

Think I’m pretty set now, but probably the same wait again before I see it.

    Cheers all.

I didn't buy new, so got what my SQ5 came with, but the pano sun roof was in my list of wants because I found the cabin very dark without it. I also wanted carbon atlas because I didn't like the silver trim. Strange what drives our choices.

One thing I would have liked is adaptive cruise control. Also I wanted the round steering wheel which is apparently heated too, but I struggled to find a nearly new model with one fitted and the other options I wanted. I'm sort of getting used to the flat bottomed steering wheel.

My partner likes the heated seats, but I don't like a warm back so I don't use them much unless it's really cold. That might change as winter kicks in though

Indeed. I’m stumping up for the tour pack with ACC and also air suspension. The thing I’m most annoyed about is that I can’t get the extended faux leather on the console and door arm rests. It’s only on the SQ5 and upcoming Vorsprung edition, not even an option on other UK q5’s.

Cheap option if it was available which lifts the interior IMO, I guess they don’t offer it due to anticipated low take up, apparently they’ve dropped that option on the A3 now too.

They all come out of the same factory, don’t understand why they only offer such things in certain markets.

I'd swap leather on the console and door arm rests in a minute for decent door arm rests that my arm actually reached!

Long drives in the S/Q5 get tiring for me because you just can't rest your right arm easily. You end up resting on the window sill which is hard and too high or with your arm in your lap and holding the most uncomfortable part of the flat bottom wheel.

    First world problems eh... :/

...........same here but only 6 weeks old when I collected mine. I was lucky, came with 21'' alloys, the 5 spoke ones, didn't mind just had to be 21''. Daytona grey, which was one of my choices. Pano roof (must have) along with a load of other things.

I've had mine 14 months now and done 15500 miles and cant ever say I have found a long drive tiring. Left arm on centre arm rest, right arm on window ledge, and go. Most journeys arent long enough!

I bought a stock car but new - not patient enough or fussy enough to go for factory order! Must haves were pan roof, 21s, and decent colour - it has B&O, HBA and flat bottomed wheel as well as a few other bits. Decent colour meant not black, white or grey - a colour. Its matador red - still not seen another SQ5 in that colour....
