I have just bought a 2006 A3 2.0 TDI for my daughter and have already found some useful posts to resolve some questions I had.
It has 132k miles and is in surprisingly good condition.
Paintwork was in a bad way but a full decontam and machine polish brought it up a treat.
I have serviced it and just have new front discs and pads to fit (Brembo from ECP).
I've not had something VW/Audi since a MkII Golf GTI back in the day.
I'm a Mercedes owner but don't hold it against me
