I'm a new member and first time s3 8l owner.
I have just bought the car which has been off the road for a few months and giving it abit of tlc before putting it on the road again.
Looking for a bit of advice. Think I already know the answer but just looking for some confirmation.
After carrying out some work on the car I went to start it to do an oil flush. The battery was dead so tried starting it with a portable jump starter. When I went to to turn on the ignition there was a spark and a small puff of smoke from the engine bay and the immobiliser warning light came on. The spark came from the starter motor.
Is my starter motor needing replaced or could it be something else?
