Well spotted Rob. I'm off to the Caribbean so the 2 day download will have to wait until after New Year. Have a great Christmas and New Year to all 8v forum subscribers. Let's hope for better things in 2017. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Thank for the heads up. I should be getting a faster download than this.......can only imagine the server is getting hammered.
Don't any of you complain about the download speed - this is my normal speed for downloads and whilst I will abort it in a few minutes you can see that I'm looking at 46 hours! The joys of living in rural Devon!
I'm being thick...When i select the 'complete package' it downloads a very small file called 'downloader-61207745851' and the file type is JNLP. What am I doing wrong? Many thanks...
It's ok...I've de-thicked myself... and I work in the IT industry...jeeeezzz...someone should look into the authenticity of my qualifications!
Haha LoL Anyone else with this issue double clip the .JNLP file (some sort of Java script I believe) and it will then open the download portal.
I updated my 2014 A3 last week with the 2016/2017 maps. There does not seem to have been any updates on my car as the maps installed were from 2014. After reading this thread I see that the new 2017 maps are out. When I go to the page I can see and download the 2016/2017 files but on the 2017 maps it says Digital road map, Europe version 2017 Not available without licence renewal I thought that we had 5 downloads F.O.C from Audi. I'd like to get the new 2017 maps from there but do you think I will now have to pay? If so how much is the licence?
Ah wondered what would happen after 5 FOC downloads - mines March 2015 so assuming May and November updates I'm due one more free update. Would be interesting if you had an SD card with 2017 if your car would except it - I would expect so. What month was your car registered ? No way to navigate on the My.Audi site to any sort of renewal ?
I'm just back! Weather was a constant 30C, very humid and only one day of heavy constant rain. Enjoy!!! ... and have a good Christmas / New Year too.
Just tried getting hold of the 2017 maps, my car is at 2016, just checked... but right now I'm getting a redirection loop after logging in and clicking on Connect: I think its also possible to update from USB, according to the car menu...?
As I am still unclear about this, are the map updates only for those with mmi plus/tech pack? - I have standard sd sat nav and audi connect on my fl - is it correct that those with a similar set up to me will never receive the free 5 updates? cheers
Yeah with pre face lift it's High MMI Nav with the 10Gb hard drive / tech pack option only that came with the 5 updates not the SD Nav ;o(
Currently downloading the full package of 2017 maps (taking ages), but already grabbed UK and Iceland. Going to try updating these first.
I'm getting this license renewal too. Mines 2014 high tech pack with HD etc. i have noticed that i normally sign in via my audi.com but its not recogising my account. saying profile doesn't exist. how much to renew this licence inorder to get 2017 maps?
just been speaking to Audi UK over text chat. gave them my VIN and they said they would inform the audi connect team. i asked about the amount of times i can download and update my nav and he said there was no limit with my nav.
I've just opted for the UK map alone as I have no plans to go abroad any time soon. Plus I'm not sure if I have an SD card big enough for the whole lot. Even this small package is going to be around an hour to download and god-knows how long to install...
There is no limit to the number of times you can download but you still only get original plus 5 updates. Audi do the same here saying no limit to downloads but they don't mention they mean repeats of the same version. Still restricted to 5 updates and then you pay Meanwhile every mobile Nav app provides free updates for life and a much better UI, more options and more accurate TTS.
I finally managed to get everything downloaded but can't get anything to install from a USB device, the USB device is not recognised. I've ordered a 32Gb SD card but might do as you suggest and just try UK maps first.
For SD Card Based "Standard Navigation" you will need to buy a new card and licence from a dealer and have them activate it.
My PFL seems to only update from 32gb cards so I have one just for that purpose and also speed camera POI updates.
I thought 32Gb was the safer option since a 16Gb card might be a bit tight. Will update on here when I make some progress.
Aahh ok I was being an idiot. The USB device was formatted exFAT. Now corrected and UK maps updated fine: Took about 2 mins... Only UK maps updated so far:
TTS still as ridiculous as ever but didn't expect that to be improved. Audi still haven't updated local roads that are 2 years old.
I got it working with USB... mine is a facelift car remember. The USB device had to be formatted FAT32, not exFAT which was what I had done initially done.
