MMI 3G to 3G+

Am I right in thinking that to upgrade from 3G to 3G+ all I have to do is swap the dvd / sd card unit and do some coding?

You need a new control unit as well as the main unit. Component protection removal and a bit of coding.

What do you mean by control unit?

Is that the gearstick surround with the buttons?

Yep, the buttons around the gearstick. You can code the main head unit to use your 3G one, but you will need to relabel a couple of the buttons. I did this while I waited for a 3G+ to turn up at the right price on eBay.

Turns out I needed the bigger screen and screen surround as plugged everything in and had a black screen.
