I would like to buy a space saver wheel, but will it fit in the expanded polystyrene wheel well in the Q5 Mk2. I’m wondering if those who ordered the space saver from the factory get a different polystyrene insert. Anyone know?

Isn't there a subwoofer in there if there is not the spare in the space?

Mine was a rhetorical question. There is in mine also. We are talking about a Q5 here.

So who has experience (and instructions) in removing the subwoofer and siting it elsewhere, and fitting the spare wheel?

Not everyone uses the Avatar to show their current vehicle, so that is the reason for comment. Good idea to have current car in your signature.
Ahhhhhh (joke) I see you are from UP NORTH and from Yorkshire where my sister lives.....that explains it!:thumbs up:

Thanks. So the subwoofer stays where it is!

Just wondering if anyone has instructions/procedures on how to go from a car not fitted with spare wheel to one with it fitted.

..........intresting. Can you use these with a 21'' alloy?. Would prefer one of these over the can of squirty rubbish.

You are more than welcome to look at mine when I get the car. Build date now 17 December for delivery for 19 plate registration.

My son's Fiesta did not have a spare originally and I bought one after a damaged tyre left the car stuck at the side of the road. Installation was simply unscrewing the old liner and putting the new one in and the putting the space saver tyre in and screwing up. The sub-woofer is designed to go inside the spare.

As an aside in the UAE it was compulsory to have a spare wheel so all the cars without run-flats came with space savers or full sized tyres- no gunk or tyre inflaters there and is was part of the (not very comprehensive) vehicle test.

Have a look at your liner and I expect you can find the fixing bolt and it should all be removable. See attached pictures (hopefully attached)

Looks like the best advice is specify the space saver when making the order for a new car. Otherwise as in my case the car was an ex dealer management car the price is too prohibitive to purchase and retrofit. The money is best spent on calling out the emergency services. So I have been advised.
