Facelift Mechatronics Replacement Guide

I have found a replacement gearbox and mechatronics for my project; now I'm just waiting for delivery.
I thought that I would start to investigate how to actually carry out the replacement. I have VCDS and the cable, but yet to use it as this is the first Audi that I'll be using it with. I wondered if someone might be able to walk me through the replacement process? What needs to be done to make the donor work with the existing ECU?
I have done some searching around, including this site, but not been able to find anything that I can use...

Cannot help with the physicals but you are going to need a specialist in order to commission your mech unit and it will have component protection.

Ahh, ok. The physicals I'm not so worried about. It's the electronics that I am more concerned about. Is this a main-dealer-only type thing? Is ODIS required? I'd like to understand exactly what I am asking a specialist to do...

You will need a specialist with VW group access to do the security side of things. Doubt a main dealer would touch a “project”.

mech unit is also part of the immo, and if a used part you will need to find a genuine and authorised services provider so they can request authorisation to “code” in a used part.

I am actually and English expat, living in Ukraine. I have a repair shop carrying out the repairs, but they are not VAG specialists. They may already know someone who can do this, but I thought that I would also prepare myself with information. There is a local VW dealer, and my sister-in-law knows the manager, so I should be able to get some help with this, if required. Thanks again! I will update the post when I find out more!!
