Sounds like a right bargain mate :)

Contacted 2 local Audi specialists for a price, I think they will be under £300! The S3 was £220 for it's second with one of them.

£66.76 for a pollen filter - bargain! :redface new:

Euro carparts £19.52 :D

Yep would have been handy if I'd known that when I bought the car, it would have worked out OK, but the car goes back in 12 months so not worth getting now as I'd only be using it once! Funny thing is they tried to sell me everything from alloy cover to paint protection, but never mentioned a service plan! Probably because they know they make more just hitting you with a big bill each year! @£468 I would have bought it, equivalent of £234 each service would be OK.

Cost

Just had my 1st email quote back using genuine Audi parts!!! £168 including vat!!! You don't need the pollen filter as that is changed between 12,000-15,000 mile :) so taking the pollen filter out of Audi's quote they are still £200 more!

Sent a reply just checking that price includes the inspection! inspection is a joke, basically just looking to make things are ok :whistle2:

EDIT* Second quote just came in £198 including vat all genuine parts, used this guy before so may take it to him as I know he's good Unit20 in neston.

I got a quote for £180 which included a new oil filter, drain plug, solvents and screen wash.

I’m just looking at quotes for my first service and oil change on my S5 because it’s coming up to 13000 miles and is 12 months old, Audi said the best they could offer is just over £400 because the engine takes so much oil and the fact it’s a V6 3l engine it doesn’t come under their price match guarantee :tearsofjoy: I’m considering taking it to a local indie who I know owns a S4 and can also update the digital service record all for £160

I’m tempted to go down this route but slightly worried it’ll effect cars future value and I’d loose any goodwill gesture from Audi in the future should something go bang out of warranty...

I was offered all of the bells and whistles EXCEPT anything to do with Service Plans, annoying when the quote for my one dropped this year.

With regards to the future value, no it doesn't alter it! When I sold the S3 Audi gave me a price, I then went to a sports car specialist who gave me £1,500 more and I asked if not having a main dealer history changed his price, he said no it would have been the same. All they are interested in is that it's been service when it should have been, a bonus if genuine parts are used.....a lot of people in the trade know that indi places 9/10 times do a better job! :)

If you can save £240 on the 1st service and then at least the same on the second and 3rd = £720 saved, that would cover an extended warranty if you do decide to keep it after 3 years! Audi hope on the fact that we worry about the main dealership goodwill...but push to shove they don't guarantee it!!!

Mine is now booked in for £198 with a guy that I know does a good job and has a good reputation, so the £223 saved will go towards the 2 front tyres I need soon!

How much was that?

£440 they quoted me, which I genuinely laughed at and then they came back with £400!

For the 1st or 2nd and on what?

I think if everyone started going to an indi, they would have to drop their prices. I was in BMW the other week and the sales guy told me that they make more money from the body shop & service side than they do selling cars!!! That says it all.

First service, my car is a 17 plate and has only done 17k so far, service was due at 15k though.

Full oil and inspection service with pollen filter replacement. This will cost £448.16 inc vat - that's the exact quote!

Ohh be careful mate, I asked the question about going over the service due date and it affecting any warranty issue/claim. They said they give you 1 month or 1,000 mile before or after the due date of the service.

If you are doing under 10k per year you should be on a fixed service, that's my understanding anyway.

You are correct about both the leeway on a service and the servicing regime...

Too many people think the main dealers are gods gift of car mechanics & then you have the sheep who only ever use main dealers because that is what everyone says you should do.

Sadly this has never been communicated to me, even when I queried the cost recently.

Mines being done on Saturday though, Car's 3 years old in March already, flown by! Hoping it can go then :)

OK so I asked Audi finance the question!

"If I have my Audi servicing at an Audi specialist and not an Audi main dealership, am I still OK to hand the car back and walk away at the end of my pcp agreement without incurring any additional charges regarding the servicing side?"

This was their reply:

"Good afternoon Mr X

Thank you for contacting Audi Financial Services.

In regards to having your vehicle serviced, the servicing does not need to take place at an Audi garage, we would always recommend using an Audi approved garage and genuine Audi approved parts are required.

If Audi approved parts are used this should not result in additional charges when handing the vehicle back."

So there you have it guys and girls, use an indi and save a fortune :)

PS: I will be keeping the email ;)

Good to know! My S5 will be due its first service soon (slap bang in the middle of my vacation to the "Audi Motherland lol") so will be taking my service early and be using my local indy, although will ask my local audi for their price, just to have a chuckle :)

You can go over the date by 1 month or 1,000 mile whichever comes first!

Yeah but given how much driving I'll be doing I'd rather play it safe and have a service before I go :)
