Hi,
What's the best way to identify which flywheel is fitted. Can it be done from the chassis number or is it a case of removing starter motor and having a look ? Also would a clutch kit from a s3 fit a a3 tfsi quattro many thanks

Tez

Quickest way to check if you cant rely on your chassis number to be accurate - Jack up & remove the front N/S wheel & in the wheel arch should be a gap/flap which can be unscrewed (if it is a 1 piece arch liner just remove it) this will give you enough access to then be able to remove the starter motor. Once that is out of the way you should be able to see the teeth of the flywheel & identify the type fitted (LUK & Sachs have either a squarer or rounder type of tooth - cant remember which is which though) you will also be able to check the movement in the flywheel by using a long screwdriver to move the teeth.

Cheers for the reply will yank the starter motor out tomorrow. Had a look underneath between the sump and gearbox bell housing there are three gaps am 75% sure that it's a luk dmf fitted but searched all over the net for pictures and similar threads but can't find an awful lot of info.

Thanks again
Tez
