Hello! So it's looking like my S5 will be needing some new tyres soon. I'm not very clued up on tyres and I am currently running the optional 20" alloys with an offset 0f 29 and a rim width of 9J, the tyres on the car are 265/30/ZR20. My question is will I be able to run bigger tyres on the car because I would like a thicker sidewall ideally, I've considered swapping to 19's but the 20's are very highly regarded and they do look very smart. Going to go for pilot sport 4 S or Goodyear. If anyone could let me know what size tyres I could go for which would fit that would be appreciated! Thanks!
Your existing tyres are the wrong width, you should have 255/30R20. If you want a thicker sidewall you will need a smaller wheel in order to keep the tyre circumference correct.
Are they really? There doesn't seem to be much of a stretch. This is good news though as the 255 tyres are slightly cheaper. Would you say the 255's are the best fit? Thank you for the response!
255s will give you slightly less sidewall than 265s. My SQ5 runs 255s but the rim's an 8.5J, 265s should be fine on a 9J.
255/265 is the Width of ur Tyre, 30 is the Profile/depth of Wall.. By going 19s u could still Run 265 but have a 40 Profile/depth Tyre. (Sidewall as you call it).
