Help!! No central locking or electric windows

Hi. I’m having issues with my centra locking on a 2006 A3 sportback. The key won’t unlock the car. Also the electric windows don’t work either. I’ve changed battery in the keys and all the fuses for windows etc and still nothing! Any ideas as to what it might be? Thanks

Check the rubber grommet on drivers door hinge for broken wires.

Assuming door unlocks manually.

Yes they unlock manually.

As mentioned, open the drivers door and check for broken wired inside the rubber grommet. It is a common problem with A3’s

As above, just make sure you are checking far enough down the rubber boot to see any breakages. As with the photo of mine (same symptoms plus no electric mirrors either) it wasn't until I unclipped the rubber boot from the A pillar AND pulled the plug out (press lug on far side) that I could withdraw the rubber boot enough to see the full **** show of broken wires! I got a repair kit for £20 off eBay to fix it all for good.
