Have an A6 estate C5 and it came with roof bars. I've seen these can be used to carry bicycles, do I need to buy a permanent roof rack that goes across the bars or some bars etc. What are the options please?

The bike racks clamp straight onto the bars - no need for any other sort of 'permanent' roof rack.
