Just had the car serviced and after about 100 miles the ESP light has decided to stay on. Wot causes this problem and does this also mean the whole sytem is no longer working eg ABS, tration control etc??

Could be loads of things at fault, wheel sensors, steering angle sensor......... you will need to have it scanned

I'd get it scanned first. Saves alot of guessing.
In the servicing, have they done tracking (rare i know)
Is the steering wheel in a different place?

mind was doing this and i put new brake light switch in hasnt come back on

Yeah they did the tracking as i had new shocks fitted in the service. Maybe this has set the fault off I'll get it scanned and find out the codes.

Mine only scanned as a drivetrain fault and as the brake light switch can be suspect and is cheap and easy to fix tried this and ok so far

Brake lights are the most common cause of this, and the easiest to check. It could be a blown bulb or the pedal switch, easy to check.
