Wanted to do an easy ignition switched power supply to my USB devices as hate dangling wires.
Got cheap 3A double USB converter off Aliexpress and finally fitted it.
Found a space underneath the dashboard, near the steering column, behind the drivers side fuse box
so after wiring all up and attaching line fuse and power connectors
attached it with zip ties
Wires for TomTom tidied up
and iPhone charger attached to the fuse box bracket so it cannot be pulled out
Positive connected to ignition switched empty fuse
and negative/ground to the chassis screw behind the fuse box
Phone charging wire run behind the steering column safely and zip tied to cabling web so it doesn't get in the way
Yes, I know. Loads of cobwebs in there.
I've allowed few friendly spiders to live in my car but enough is enough and they been evicted. Lol. All cleaned up.
Charger wire fed behind climate control and let out underneath it / just above the ashtray and tucked in between the dash trim and centre air vent to hold it in place
tightly enough to reach the phone magnetic cradle I have stuck on the dash
All worked out well and I'm happy with the result.
TomTom cradle is fitted to the windscreen on a suction cup, near the drivers side A pillar. Wire tucked it behind the dash and A pillar gap so only few cm's is visible.
Will add picture later as forgotten to take one now.
