This is a little off-topic but I hope you can all help me?
I may need to replace my B6 A4 with something a bit larger, and a bit cheaper to run than the 3.0V6 petrol. I'm probably going to have to go Diesel. I'd prefer to stay 4-wheel drive (once you have it, it's difficult to go back to FWD).
I'm in a bit of a quandry though. I'm not sure if I can really afford to get an A6 Avant 2.5TDi quattro - the 2.5 seems fairly thirsty for a diesel, and it still seems to be in the top tax band (so I'll still get nobbled for car tax, parking charges and congestion charge).
The A6 1.9TDi isn't quattro.
So, I thought perhaps look at the current generation Passat - you get a lot of car for your money. Does anyone know anything about it? How much bigger in real-life is it than the A4, is it much different to the A6? I've seen a '54 2.0TDi 4motion which I think might be in my price range, so wondering whether to look more seriously. Any opinions, or links to reviews?
Cheers
