Hi,

Fake mileage can be reversed to the original (actual) mileage in dealer service? My car shows nearly 30k while working, but over 50k when I turn off the engine but key is still on the dash. I think this is called clocking, I bought it like this and I was aware. Thanks.

Kind Regards.

Nope, dealer will not & can't adjust used mileage clusters, unless they've been zero'd & possibly also non vin allocated, this is a restriction put on the tools by vag, although if vag allowed, Odis & vas could adjust any mileage on a vag car.

Only aftermarket tools will do this, but beware, some mileage correction tools can leave a ROM defective error on the clocks although its working correctly.

I remember a few years ago driving around Glasgow and there were billboards advertising clocking cars back on mileage. Said at the time I'm sure that's an illegal, if not an immoral trade, If you were looking to sell a car on.

I will sell it and previosly it has passed Mot at 50k mileage, now if I sell it people may not look great. It’s showing 30k now but actual is 50k. I want to make it legal. I can see the original mileage while it isn’t running on dash.

I mean I will clock it to original mileage, clocking forward.
