Christmas Hols - Looking for suggestions

For the first time we are considering going somewhere foreign for Christmas. Ideally a bit of sunshine but also something to keep the kids amused (ages vary from 4-14).
Anybody got any suggestions as to a good location? Thanks in advance for any ideas.

I went to Gran Canaria once, and thought it was the arm pit of the world. I would rather remove a limb than visit there again. Whats your budget Smee?
