    Thanks bro

Cheers mate, the wrap has 6 layers of ceramic 9H to bring out the gloss colour and add protection against damage and bird *****. Any scratches i do get I can clear with a heat gun or buff out with a DA :)

Thanks bud haha, you’re too kind

    Thank you

    Your car looks absolutely amazing!
How many wheels you've had already on your car? Lost count. Haha
New wrap and protection is wicked. Didn't know you can do that to vinyl. Shines like no other.
Steering wheel and cross-stitched seats in @b19ctr 's A3 are something else. Wonder if I can get my seats done like that.
Recently done steering wheel, gear knob gaitor and front armrest hand re-stitched in red. Seats like that would match or, what I've done would match them seats.
Congrats on all work and looking forward to see new upgrades

Hmm ok where did the last 11 months go??

It’s been a crazy year and lots of interesting things have happened...

Both Performance VW and Performance Audi Magazines got interested in the build and did a feature on the car this year. Both mag features were issued in the same month which was kinda funny...

    Anyways... onto actual project stuff!

That same month (October) I was on the way home from a date and was confronted by an indecisive fox on the motorway! He ran across my lane but right at the last second he stopped and turned back. He got obliterated at about 60-70mph, cracked my bumper, destroyed a third of my carbon fibre splitter and damaged my auxiliary radiator in the process!

Needless to say I wasn’t pleased, especially as I had the final show of the season coming up in 2 weeks (Ultimate Stance) but I took it as an opportunity to do a few upgrades...

First thing I did was remove the bumper and get the lights sent away to Trups at EM Tuning. He did a wonderful job customising my lights, satin black plastics, dark dye applied to chrome pieces, etched RS lens, upgraded xenons, upgraded LED DRLs.

He also happened to have a used front bumper sitting around which he let me have for a case of beer, what a result!

Time was of the essence so I really had to get my wiggle on. Get the used bumper prepped and smoothed for a rewrap to match the rest of the car:

In the meantime I ordered a new and improved carbon splitter from my friend in Slovenia:

Once the bumper wrap was complete, it was time to get it home and mock up the splitter fitment prior to drilling and bolting:

At this point I noticed that my grille had a couple of tiny fractures thanks to Mr Fox, nothing a bit of epoxy resin and paint couldnt fix:

Back on the car, jobs a good’un:

Made it to the show, was very happy with the finish and the new splitter, which matches my side skirt extensions way better:

That pretty much concluded things for 2018... :)

Over the year I noticed that my vinyl wrap was starting to get a bit tatty (all wraps will do after a couple of years unfortunately, the material is simply too soft, delicate, and vulnerable to summer heat).

I don’t like leaving things unfinished, and I was determined to see my RS4 through to the end in terms of what I wanted to do to it (the list is still substantial).

It just so happened that a month after the show last year I managed to find a buyer for my Rotiform centerlock wheels and got them sold. This freed up some budget, which left me with a decision to make: put it towards a new Japanese drift car project (either a SR20DET 200SX or a manual 2JZ-GTE Mk4 Supra)........ or ditch the wrap and go for a full body respray!

You can probably see where this was going...

And here she is fresh out of the paintshop!

The colour and aqua tones really pop in the light, but for some reason this seemed difficult to capture on camera:

Super happy with the colour choice overall. Really deep tones and glass like finish thanks my pal Jamie with his excellent lacquer work.

The finish was great, but still had some room for improvement, so it was off to my detailer next to get the paint fully perfected and sealed in with permanent ceramic. The paint had to be few weeks first to allow time to cure though...

A little finishing touch with matching centercaps:

First car show of the year the new colour went down a storm which made me happy haha

    More bits to follow!

Time for another update, and boy has it been an interesting last few months

Drove the car to Wörthersee again with 20 or so friends. Had a wonderful time right up until the final day there, when catastrophic disaster struck whilst racing up a mountain road in Slovenia:

Long story short: I blew a fuel injector, which in turn flooded cylinder 4, which unfortunately popped the piston rings. Lots of white smoke, sump full of fuel, bad news. Had to get the car recovered back to the UK and get a rental car for the remainder of the trip.

Before we knew the full extent of the damage though, I had it recovered to my good friend Roy to have a look at... he had a look into the cylinders with a borescope to see if there was any damage to the walls, all looked good so we took the gamble and tried swapping the injectors, replaced the oil, and see if that would do the trick...

Supercharger out and new injectors in:

    Supercharger back on:

Once everything was back together, fired up the car. Sadly, it was still smoking, and still misfiring in cylinder 4. Compression test for that cylinder came back at 6.5bar (should be closer to 12bar), which was bad news, and left me with a choice:

    1) Pull out the engine, rebuild with new piston rings and big end bearings, then hope the cylinders themselves are fine.

    2) Buy another engine and swap it out.

Went for option 2 because I had 2 shows I didn’t want to miss: Players Classic, which is about an hour from me, and the big one called Raceism in Poland which is arguably the most prestigious modified car show in the world.

I came to the conclusion that there was no hope in getting the car sorted before Players, but Raceism was still on the cards, and Roy was up for the task So time to crack on!

New engine bought, luckily it came with everything... starter motor, full loom, throttle body, all the pipework, exhaust manifold, even the clutch & flywheel! I was assured that this engine had around 10k less mileage than my original one, and it ran perfectly. Fingers crossed!

Front end off (for the 2nd time):

Out with the old (supercharger to be transferred onto new engine):

Get the old clutch and flywheel swapped for new while everything is apart (look how worn the pads were):

Supercharger on, new engine in, just some plumbing to do:

All back together and purring like a kitten:

Needless to say, the car was done just in the nick of time, and what better running in test than a 2000 mile round trip to Poland for a long weekend?

Little stopover in Frankfurt on the way back to visit the famous Klassikstadt:

Had 2 back to back bachelor parties abroad immediately after getting home from this trip. But I’m so grateful to have the car running beautifully again (tested at 190mph on the Autobahn back home and it still had more to give) The new engine turned out to be everything I hoped for, no smoke, and burned hardly any oil compared to my original one

Next show: Fitted UK in Manchester, hope some of you come to visit!

Big update that bud I saw on Instagram the engine out and swop you had to do, but didn't know the full details as to why.

Full credit for the quick engine pull out and swop.

As somebody who had to have my A7 3 litre TDI stripped back to a bare V block and all the front end taken off, to sort a water leak I fully understand the time and massive costs involved..

But yours must have been a hard cost to pay out.. Still I firmly stand by my clam that yours is the Best B7 RS4 out there...
