I'm looking at buying new summer tyres for the RS3, I'd like to keep the factory specs, 255-30R19 at the front, and 235/35R19 at the back. How important is to buy an RO2 marked tyres, I think there are only Pirelli and Continental that offer RO2 approved tyres.

    Doesn’t bother me.

Most swap to Michelin sport 4S

Personally I’ve gone the square 235/35/19 route with Goodyear Eagle Supersports, only because the 255 weren’t available at the time of ordering them (March 19).

I don’t miss the wider fronts.

What's the advantages or missadvantages of the wider front tyres 255, instead od 235? Like I said I want to keep everything factory specd, I presumed, that there are some benefits from the wider fronts.

I, like T-1000, went square on Goodyear Eagles, but opted for 245 all round. The R02 I think refers to the kerb protection or profile of the sidewall. I don't think I'd go back to a staggered setup tbh, too much confusion when garages try and put the 235 on the front and you explain to them why not. :)

The ro1 and ro2 are a specific Audi fitment with the rolling diameter matched between the 235 and 255s.

RO2 spec is Audi specific. The sizing is slightly off vs say the Michelin PS4. The RO2 Pirelli has rim protection and noise dampening material. A lot of people don’t like the Pirellis and go with another tire. Going with the staggered PS4, some have had VCS issues. I’ll probably go with Conti extreme sport staggered setup when I need to replace mine or square PS4’s

The Pirelli tyres are narrower vs other brands.

I posted info on another thread of a Michelin 235 vs a R01 Pirelli 255
    [IMG]
And of the Goodyear 235 Supersport F1 vs the current R02 255 Pirelli.

Is there documentation for this anywhere?

My understanding is that RO designation is quattro specific with unique shoulder design.

Nothing to do with matched rolling radius as not all cars that use RO spec tyres have a staggered setup

So am i right i thinking it make sense to just go 235/35 all the way around if you go for other brands than the oem pirelli ?
Is there any issue going with 255/30 on others for the fronts?

I've been running staggered michelin tyres for months now without issue.

And what's the difference between RO1 and RO2?

R01 didn’t have as much rim protection as the R02.
My PFL had R01 on and I always remember having another RS3 over for coding work and he had the R02 fitted, but the difference on tyre protrusion was staggering, they almost looked like the wrong size tyre for the rim

One other issue, I also have damaged rotor alloys from curbs and idiot tyre fittings, and I'm not interrested in repairing, so I'm looking to buy new rims, how important is to have 8.0 rims for the back 235 tyres, and 8.5 rims for the front 255 tyres. Because it's hard to find the same model of the rim with different width.

    8.5 work all round.

I run 8.5 ET 47 square with 235 Pirelli winters
Just gotta be careful as rim protection is non existent.

I realised that and immediately deleted. Sorry. I did not take kindly to the tone or manner which was frankly aggressive and rude. Cheers

Didn’t think I was being Rude, simply pointing out forum rules, it’s not the first time you’ve tried to sell those tyres in a thread though is it.
For sale section will give you the audience to sell them.

Anyone noticed strange wearing on the fronts using Pirelli P Zeros?

Very common problem, inside edge gets thrashed quickly, plenty of threads on this.

Ahhh right! My front right is wearing slightly more on the outside edge compared to the left! Also the edges that are getting hammered are the outside ones!?

Normally the inside edges wear badly. Unless your hammering it around corners all the time to wear the outside, I would get your alignment checked asap.

Yeah it’s deifnitely the outside edges that are wearing. Was planning on getting my tracking done anyway, not sure which tyres to go for next? The rears are okay but the fronts will need changing soon.
