Buying a dual-action polisher

HI, just after a bit of advice and guidance form the experts

Due to some inattentive washing by the dealer, I have some swirl marks etc in my paintwork.

I'm making progress polishing them out by hand using Autoglym SUper Resin Polish, but it's got me thinking that it's about time I got a DA to take the elbow grease out of the job and get a better finish.

I'm eyeing up the DAS-6 as that seems to be well regarded, Dodo Juice have a kit at reasonable price on Amazon.

My area of uncertainty is what pads (heads?) do I need and what polishes & wax should I get for good results?

My car is black so is obviously quite unforgiving to any marks.

I've tried taking it up with Hardwoods but they're very passive in getting involved and I don't have time to go into the dealership kicking off about it. So I figure I will spend more time and care sorting it myself if I can get the right kit

I have the normal DAS6, think the only main difference is a longer lead. Plus if it's just purely recreational there's not much need in spending loads straight away, especially at a newbie level.

Have a look at the Detailing World threads that Bristol Hound linked, they're blooming useful. As for where to buy I buy everything from Clean Your Car, always had good service from them.

I just bought my first ever DA, after a rather long chat via PM on here with Matt from Slims, he advised on the best combination of things to achieve the results that I was after without cutting the paint!. I was going for the pro DA as mentioned above, but was told that unless I need the extra power for cutting, the cheaper model would be enough to do what I want it to do. Both Super resin polish and black hole polish are fillers, so will not cut your paint!

So you had a single pad and that was a finishing one? What polish and wax etc did you use in the end? It sounds like I might be as well dropping Matt a PM and asking his advice...

Hi, yeah the finishing pad is to apply the poor boys OR super resin polish, the pad is super soft and has no cut and as both products mentioned only fill it's ideal. Once I'd applied the poorboys I then finished off with this applied by hand with the applicator provided http://www.halfords.com/motoring-tr...ish-wax/farecla-g3-super-gloss-paste-wax-200g

This gives you an idea of what it looks like once done The G3 goes on easily and comes off easily with a microfibre cloth.
