Hi guys and girls.

Got a hissing brake pedal on my 2007 s3.
Stop hissing when i press the pedal. Done alot of searching for possible reasons and it all seems to point to a leak in the servo.

Does anyone know how much a servo costs. Looked on eurocarparts and gsf but cant find them listed.

Been told that the engine has to come out to change it which is a pain and very costly.
The brakes all work fine and no codes have been thrown up so i am open to other possible causes.

Would a vacuum leak cause running issues?
I ask this because the car has a lumpy idel when cold. Sounds like it is miss firing for about 3 seconds then clears.

Praying that I dont have to have the engine pulled so any help is appreciated

On past experience its the servo, i had exactly the same symptoms, i got mine done under warranty and the reciept said £460 if i remember correctly but it probably wasnt a vag part. Im not sure of you can get away with dropping the engine half way and getting it out ive read a few threads on it and a few have said that

Cheers

Yeah kind of knew it was the servo just hoping it wasnt.
Did you mean £460 for just the servo?

That was fitted mate think the guy who did it was a vag specialist and had done quite a few so he could do it alot faster, teeside audi quoted £2500 to do it GULP

That was replaced not long ago. Not sure if that would give me a hissing noise inside the car buddy. Will take a look but pretty sure its the servo.
Priced 1 up from euro car parts this morning, £167 using their 30% discount offer.

Good price,
Taking the engine out is not as hard as you think, me and 2 mates swapped out a mk4 golf 2.0 lump and put back a 1.8t in a weekend and that was swapping out the loom and wiring it back in.
Two engine mounts the dog bone mount with an engine lift, just got to remember where everything plugs back in and refill all the fluids.
No reason you couldn't do it in a day.
£2500 is way too much, £80 an hour brings you out at £640 for a days work.

Yeah got lucky on the price because of the offer. Saved over £60.
Hopefully it comes out at around £600 for labour.
Was planning on having a stage 1 revo map next month. That aint happening now

You can get a superchips bluefin for around £300 and its plug and play by yourself, I got one and it has nice torque in the mid range, I got mine as a stop gap until I have everything fitted to the build and then I`ll have the car stage 2 by unicorn, suspension is nearly done, and exhaust is coming towards the end of the year. And just bought some rare wheels that are going to be powder coated soon, its coming along, albeit a bit slowly.
