Hi I've been having an issue with my boot closing, normally I'd suspect the lock which was the cause of similar issues in my golf but there's an extra issue on my a3.

My boot closes fine most of the time and my reg lights work, however every so often it will not close at all, and I have to try closing it day 10 times in a row until it will close. I sometimes get a bulb out warning when it happens and my reg lights don't work, this is totally random as one light may work, both won't or both lights will work.

My rear washer ect works fine so I doubt there's a leak, any ideas?

Our c0ck ring wagons seem to suffer marginally with this problem. (normally soaked from screenwash, leaky rear wiper motors, pipe popped off etc)

You wiper may still wash wipe nicely, but it may well be have a wee piddle.

However, you've mentioned that your reg lights go out too, so you may have a fatigued wire from the boot lid into the main body. Possibly worth look having a peak past the rubber protective sleeve for signs of wear.

But it's a good chance any liquid could be causing a short. Worth a look for peace of mind behind the plastic boot trim panel.
