Hi guys,

Got an Audi A4 b7 2.0 BRD, previous steering wheel 3-spoke multi function changed to 4-spoke in eBay link below.

Just wanted to pick peoples brains about what in my head seems a minor issue but cant seem to find a conclusive answer.

Basically got a new steering wheel,( https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/152718540982 ) nothing sporty but since I had it fitted the steering wheel seems too tight to the plastic cowling and there is an annoying rubbing against the plastic I want rid of. 100% no other issue!

Is there a boss kit I can purchase or some kind of steering wheel adapter to get just 10mm or so and any recommended for this steering wheel?

Have seen a few for more the more popular steering wheel specialists (momo etc)but not sure they will be compatible. Also seen cheap ones from China which say compatible but look similar to the ones I seen online that are only compatible for b5 of this model and more of the newer vw range.

Also do I just need the boss kit or the quick release too?

Sorry if my question has an obvious answer I am missing! Cheers in advance

When you fitted it did you have any of the switchgear off the column? If that’s not pushed all the way down before the screw is tightened the whee will rub.

Well somebody owed me a favour and was attempting to add/retrofit cruise control at the same time (still not sorted malfunctioning switch) but he said it all went in okay but you may have just answered my question, been too busy to get it done myself.

Thanks

That’s probably what it is, had the same when reassembling mine when fitting cruise. There’s a screw (underneath it iirc) that locks the whole switch assemble onto the column. Undo that and push everything down, then do it up again. Should go back together fine once this is done.

Thanks helps having someone been through it before! If thats not sat in the right position would that also cause code 000895 (malfunctioning cc switch ) bought second hand including cowling thought would try switch as eBay seller stated was tested before and working?

I don’t think so, but worth checking the switch is seated properly while you have it apart again.

Just to confirm purchased and fitted new cc switch and all working fine. More impressed with the steering wheel not rubbing, thanks for the advice lawrence you were right.

Now to trawl the forums to figure out how to turn off the washer level sensor low error for DIS!
