Engine code is ARE - Boot sticker indicates it should be an AGB - Is it possible its had a replacement head/heads at some time? Anybody know if i can check the block without pulling the whole front end off again? Thanks.
Engine code is stamped on the block, look on driver side cylinder head where it meets the block at the front in the vee of the engine...it's quite difficult to see as the area rusts and it's stamped with dots... easy to see in this picture right above the thermostat...in that little square of metal...

Yeh, i checked the block, it is an ARE block so it has had an engine swap. Thanks for the advice.
