Hi all, i am just about to purchase a 1999 audi a3 1.8 T quattro, the guy has told me the fuel gauge does not work and he has had it looked at and it is not the senders etc but more a dial problem?

How much and how easy would this be to be fixed?

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Unlikely to be the dial .Has he checked the fuse? The sender is the one which can break but how has he checked this?

Know anyone with another a3? If you do you can swap the instrument cluster very easily to see if it is a dial problem. You don't need to worry about coding ad you dont need to start the car. Should only take 10mins to test and it give you an idea where the problem lies.

id leave it personally. must be others out there problem free.

why has he had it fixed anyway? what else is he hiding?
