Alloy Wheel Rim Protectors

Hi, Has anyone used and fitted the various Rim protector products on the market.
would like to no if they worked and standup to cleaning ect.

Ive seen wheels thats had them on and removed left a right mess.refurb needed...2 sets that is...not sure if its the installer or the paint job.
id never do it personally.
