Hi all, hoping someone can give me a pointer in the right direction to get me out of a mess.
On track to privately sell our A6 C6 on Saturday and today ,Thurs, I put the car in a local garage to get a basic service - just oil+filter change. We just got an A6 C7 and need the C6 sold to sort out the finances!
Went to pick it up and noticed CD player was on a track I didn't leave it on...went to change to radio using the centre consol button... no buttons working, volume control not working, big dial knob thing not working and none of the buttons lit (usually one is lit to let you know what screen youre on!) Hmmm
Complained to garage - "what have you done?"....no idea. The guy works with me for an hour to try find root cause. Checked all fuses. Saw fault code 00446 from Radio module
00446 - Function Limitation due to Under-Voltage
002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent
Disconnected and reconnected power to what we thought was radio module (Becker branded box in boot side area, under Bose amplifier.) fault code went away, but still no buttons.
Eventually had to leave garage and get home. P*ssed off because I need this car working to be sold!
I just plugged in VCDS and did a scan, as below. The time stamps are all out of whack, but the mileage/km stamps for the various fault codes make sense and would actually seem to imply they tripped at home this morning, rather than at the garage...Now, I just remembered tonight at home that something bad did happen this morning as I set off for work....my 6 year old son leant into the front of the car to grab something and knocked my coffee over with a bit getting spilled on the central console. It wasn't much liquid at all and I wiped it up quickly. Hmmmm. Culprit....coffee or garage?
Either way, has anyone got any suggestions on way forward.... How can I confirm which part has gone bad? If its the centre console electronics, which ECU# is this and how hard is it to get to the bits that probably need replacing? Any help appreciated.
