New to the forum. Just bought a 2012 black edition (177ps) diesel. 30k on the clock. It was serviced before I collected it (yesterday). It has a short warranty so I just wanted to ask, if there is anything I should be getting checked out? It drives fine as far as I can feel and looks okay (bodywork). The oil service indicator and the service indicator were not reset. Can this be done by the myself or does it need to go back to the garage?

Thanks in advance

You can do the oil yourself, but the inspection light needs to be done by audi, nothing really to look out for, just make sure there's no noises on test drive, wind noise. Cambelt will be due next year.

Is it belt? Bummer

Ah, was going to say I run a vw specialist. But many many miles away from you so scrap that.

Lol........thanks anyway. Whereabouts?

All the way down in Cambridgeshire, 60 miles north of london

Just a bit too far unfortunately

If the car is on long life (which it is) and the service is 19100 miles, why is the oil 3200 miles or 180 days? Should that not be greater?

There's 2 sides to a service, an inspection which is basically a VHC. Which is done every 2 years or 19000 miles(which ever comes first). then there is the oil change which in your case (being diesel and on long life) should also be 19000 miles and 2 years(which ever comes first). So they need to reset your oil change so it matches your inspection service.

That is of course assuming they have done both oil and inspection service. Which they should have if the car was due in 3200 miles.

Okay. Thanks for the info. I was told both had been done. I'll get back onto them to check

.....too add.....I reset the oil service. I cannot remember the exact reading before I did but it 'reset' to 180 days and 3200 miles. I thought if this was indeed correct it is a bit weird if it's on long life servicing

When you reset the oil service yourself it automatically sets the oil service to fixed, so it should reset to 360 days

Ok. It defo didn't do that. It reset to 180 Days.
