On the bars, yes.
Had to shorten them by 5cm to fit.
That involved only drilling new holes further by 5cm and cutting that piece off.
Only one side so all in all took me about half an hour + left front clamp of Q5 oem had 3 roof rail pins and mine A6 have only 2.
After cutting one unnecceseary one off, only one of the remaining two fitted in.
Had cut plush second pin, re-drill new pin hole and insert bolt with pin nut. Worked a treat.

Q5 roof bars on A6 Avant flush roof rails
Didn't had any black spray pain then, to cover freshly cut metal so small rust started to come out.

If you look are Aero Bars, the Thule ones are telescopic so width adjustable
