A4 B5 tyre widths

Can anyone advise of the optimum tyre width I should fit on my '95 A4? It's currently running 15s with 195/60 tyres. I'm on a budget so will probably keep these alloys. Is there any advantage of running wider rears? I know wider rears can help reduce tramlining.

wrong, wider you go will increase tramlining.

im also running 225 but 225/40/18s and havent noticed much tramlining

The models higher up the range came with 205/55/r16 with 6.5 inch (i think) rims. You could probably pick up a set with part worn tyres on ebay for not much more than the than 4 new tyres.
