Hi just wondered if anybody could shed any light , I have an audi a4 1.9 tdi 130 bhp on a 2003, it's gradually been getting worse , I've plugged it in to obdurate no faults , when I accelerate turbo comes in upto 300 rp m then no turbo get a loud whooshing noise and a lot of smoke behind , engine keeps getting covered in soot , I've had every boost pipe off today no splits I've had intercooler out and cleaned , disconnected cat from manifold still same , first started by car fading out and no noise but gradually got worse , any help or advice much appreciated, thanks

First thing is to determine where the soot is heaviest on engine and find the leak,can you plug vcds in and log a run then post it on here so we can see whats happening?
If it's soot on engine then either there's a leak at the EGR valve or at the exhaust manifold. Check bolts to be tight and also the thin metal pipe from manifold to egr valve is known to break...
